Lamba-Zouk
This is a modern form of lambada, danced to slow music. It’s graceful
& flowing, using lots of body movement. Swirling head movements from the lady are
typical of this dance.
Kizomba
The latest dance craze! We 1st introduced it as Pontin’s 3 years ago. From
Angola, it’s a close led dance with aspects of Tango. However, the body movement
differs from Tango, being more fluid & earthy!
Cross Body Salsa
The popular style of salsa (from USA) using a straight lines floor pattern. Stylish & danced on 1 or 2.
Shines, Styling, Spin
Footwork patterns and use of body movement & isolations.
Cuban Salsa
The original form of salsa, danced in a circular floor pattern. Lots of body movement & more earthy than corss body.
La Rueda
Danced in a wheel with a caller - ie as in a barn dance.
Bachata
Still a popular dance! From the Dominican Republic, this is a fun and easy
dance to melodic music. It is characterised by the hip action.
Parties
This year the party room will be run by Moe Flex, Nicolai & Nigel Maye (tbc)
with a fancy dress theme of 80’s/90’s......big hair, shoulder pads, Miami Vice, Dynasty,
Wham, Blondie, Madonna, Simply Red etc.!
